Itinerary
Day 1: Fez – Ifrane – Azrou – Erfoud – Merzouga
Begin your journey from Fez towards the mesmerizing dunes of Merzouga. Travel through Ifrane, often called the "Switzerland of Morocco," and make a stop at the Cedar Forest of Azrou to observe the playful Barbary macaques. Continue through the breathtaking Middle Atlas Mountains, enjoying diverse landscapes along the way.
After lunch in Midelt, drive through the scenic Ziz Valley, famous for its lush palm groves, and pass by Erfoud, renowned for its ancient fossils.
Arrive in Merzouga by late afternoon, where you'll check into your accommodation near the dunes for a peaceful night in the Sahara.
Day 2: Merzouga & Erg Chebbi Desert Experience
Dedicate the day to exploring the wonders of the Moroccan Sahara. Visit nomadic families, picturesque oases, and take in panoramic views of the stunning Erg Chebbi dunes. Discover the cultural heritage of Khamlia, home to the Gnawa people, and experience their soulful traditional music. Lunch can be enjoyed in a local restaurant in the village.
In the afternoon, embark on a captivating camel trek through the golden sands at sunset, leading to your desert camp. Enjoy an unforgettable night in a Berber tent under the starry sky, accompanied by local music and a traditional dinner.
Day 3: Return to Fez
Rise early to witness the breathtaking sunrise over the dunes before enjoying breakfast at the camp. Ride back to Merzouga village, where your driver awaits, and begin the return journey to Fez. Travel through the same scenic route, arriving in Fez by late afternoon.
